Hello! I’m heading home from Portland, OR, early Monday morning, so I’m writing this post on Sunday so I don’t miss blogging on my travel day. This has been such a fun trip and gave me a change of perspective and routine that I was needing. Isn’t that one of the best aspects of traveling?
On my first trip here for Vida Vegan Con in 2011, I wasn’t able to go to the farmers’ market at PSU. I made sure that I had plenty of time there yesterday, though, and I’m so glad I did! The offerings are absolutely incredible at this market. Since I’m typing this post on an iPad vs. my trusty computer, I’m going to make this post mainly a photo spread.
Here are some photos from the market:
It was so hard to pass up the fresh produce, but I managed to find some goodies to take home:
After the market, I had lunch with the lovely Janessa at Prasad where I had the raw El Dorado salad. The ingredients for this salad were delicious and included greens, yam rice, walnut taco crumbles, avo, sundried tomatoes, scallions and jalapeƱo cashew cheese. Yummy!
After lunch and a visit to the Saturday market where Alan and I pursued all the crafts and products made by local vendors, we got gussied up for dinner with some other lovely ladies. I’ll write more about that meal and my final day in Portland in my next blog post, but here’s a little hint about who I got to catch up with:
Any guesses?
Have a great start to your week and I’ll meet you back here on Wednesday!

Is that a basinji? Oh my goodness! We used to have a basinji when I was little, but we had to give her to a friend when we left CA.
Close, but not quite, Candyce.
She’s a pit bull.
Oh! She’s so cute
Rose!!
Yes!!!
those mushrooms are amazing! and cute dog!
Thanks, Caralyn! I wish she was my dog!
My oh my, those mountains of kale look delish. And I kind of have an obsession with mushrooms right now, so I’m super jealous of your market loot.
And would that be the lovely Rose from Our Hen House? She is just pure pitbull perfection. Love.
Thanks, Angela! I loved seeing all the different types of kale at the market, it was so hard not to buy some! I ended up buying a lot of dried mushrooms, I can’t wait to use them. And, by the way, you’re right about that being the adorable Rose from OHH.
