Why Vegan?
I believe there are three important reasons for considering veganism:
1. For the environment,
2. for animal welfare,
3. and for health reasons.
There are many excellent blogs and informational sites that cover the first two issues. My blog deals primarily with food and the health reasons for being vegan, although more and more I like to include pertinent information on the issues of animal cruelty in the food system.
Being vegan doesn’t necessarily mean that you are healthy. To prevent and reverse disease, I believe in a diet that is high in plant-based foods and low in added fats, sugars, and salt. My thoughts on nutrition are strongly influenced by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, a board-certified family practice physician and author of Eat to Live. Dr. Fuhrman’s philosophy is derived from scientific research and is not influenced by politics or industry.
I hope this site provides information and inspiration to live healthfully and happily. Good health is within our reach and nutritional excellence is the key. I appreciate the time you spend reading what I have to say and I value your input. Please feel free to leave a comment or send me an e-mail at carrieonvegan<@>gmail.com.
